Day 7
Wednesday June 10, 1998
Rising at 5:30 a.m. for an excursion to Canyon De Chelly, the group piled into the vans and were on their way. After driving for an hour and a half, we piled into a truck for three more hours for the descent into the canyon. The canyon was described as majestic, awesome, and as an entirely different world of towering canyon walls, cave dwellings, and pictographs created by the Anasazi or "ancient ones". The modern day residents of the canyon were herding goats and sheep, as well as selling hand made pottery and jewelry.
